I was raised in the smallest town called Hectorspruit in
Mpumalanga. I’ve called Stellenbosch my home town now for the past 10 Years.
Mountain biking and Cycling, in general, have always been a big passion of
mine. It gave me freedom, the ability to challenge myself, and the ability to
overcome my fears.
Mountain biking helped me to enter any circumstance with
confidence.
My mountain biking journey started with Downhill and I
represented South Africa in 1997 (Château-d'Œx, Switzerland) and 1998
(Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec, Canada) in the Junior Category. I matriculated in
1998 and then headed off to the UK.
After returning from the UK I returned to Hectorspruit and
quickly returned to riding and competing then in cross-country and marathon
races.
In 2012 a Job opportunity came along to relocate to Stellenbosch in
Western cape. I grabbed this with both hands and our family moved down to the
Winelands. Since then I have been competing in various MTB events with the Cape
Pioneer (2014) and the Karoo to Coast being highlights.
I have completed my BICP level 1 MTB skills instructor course
training which is an international accredit MTB skills training program to
ensure you get the most out of every coaching session.
